Certificates of relinquishment, 1821-1829.

Certificates filed at land office state that purchaser had filed a relinquishment on specified tracts and that any payments made on those relinquished tracts should be applied toward the purchase of another tract or tracts. Entries on each certificate include purchaser name; certificate date and number; tract legal description and relinquished tract purchase date; and legal description of tracts not relinquished to which credit is applied. Occasional entries include cash due for tracts not relinquished; discount for land relinquished; and cash due after relinquishment.
